DemoFast can render a saved interactive demo as a WebM video or animated GIF. Exports are useful for social posts, email, presentations, internal updates, and channels that do not support an interactive embed.

Interactive controls are converted into a passive animation in an export. Keep the public link or embed when viewers need to click through the demo themselves.

Choose the right format

WebM video

Choose Video for smoother playback, higher resolution, and better visual quality. DemoFast exports video as a .webm file with 720p or 1080p quality options and frame rates of 15, 24, 30, or 60 fps.

WebM is generally the better choice for longer demos or detailed interfaces. If a destination requires another video format, convert the downloaded WebM with your approved media tool.

GIF

Choose GIF for a short looping asset that can be inserted where video playback is inconvenient. DemoFast provides 800×450 and 1280×720 sizes with 6, 8, or 12 fps smoothness options.

GIF files are larger and lower quality than video, so they work best for short clips with only a few steps.

Prepare the demo

Before exporting:

Open the demo in the editor.
Review the order of the steps and remove unnecessary screens.
Check textboxes, markers, highlights, and zoom areas.
Configure step timing in the Steps sidebar.
Select Save and wait for Saved.
Choose Preview and watch the complete sequence.

If Same duration for every step is enabled, one timing value applies across the sequence. If it is disabled, DemoFast uses each step's custom duration and falls back to the default duration for steps without one.

Open the export settings

Open the Share panel from the editor or the demo's more-actions menu on the dashboard. Scroll to Export, select Export as WebM Video, and then open Export Settings. You can change the format to GIF before starting.

The Share panel can load the complete demo when opened from the dashboard. Wait for Loading demo... to finish before changing export settings.

Export a WebM video

Under Format, select Video.
Under Quality, choose 720p for a smaller file or 1080p for the best quality.
Choose a Frame Rate of 15, 24, 30, or 60 fps.
Set Time per Step or Default Step Time to 2, 3, 4, or 5 seconds.
Review the estimated duration.
Select Start Export.
Keep the tab open while DemoFast prepares, renders, and finalizes the video.
When the export displays Ready, select Download.

Higher resolution and frame rate create smoother, sharper output but require more rendering time and generally produce a larger file.

Export an animated GIF

Under Format, select GIF.
Under Size, choose 800×450 for a compact social or messaging asset, or 1280×720 for a larger embed-quality file.
Under Smoothness, choose 6 fps for compact output, 8 fps for the standard balance, or 12 fps for smoother motion.
Set Time per Step or Default Step Time.
Review the estimated duration and GIF size guidance.
Select Start Export.
Keep the tab open until DemoFast finishes encoding the GIF.
When Ready appears, select Download.

If the GIF is too large, use 800×450, lower the smoothness, shorten the time per step, or remove unnecessary steps. For a longer walkthrough, export a WebM video instead.

Export another version

After an export finishes, select Export again to return to the export controls. Change the format or settings, then start a new render. This makes it easy to create a high-quality video for a landing page and a compact GIF for a social post from the same source demo.

Downloaded files use the demo title as the filename, with unsupported filename characters replaced.

Troubleshooting

Export does not start

Wait for the full demo to load in the Share panel. Confirm that the demo contains at least one renderable step and that its screenshots load successfully.

The export appears to be stuck

Keep the tab open and active while DemoFast renders. Longer demos, high resolution, and high frame rates require more time. You can select Cancel and retry with lighter settings.

The GIF file is too large

Choose 800×450, reduce smoothness to 6 or 8 fps, shorten step timing, or export fewer steps. WebM is usually more efficient for longer demos.

The video will not play in my destination app

Confirm that the destination accepts WebM video. If it requires another format, convert the downloaded file with an approved media converter before uploading.

Recent edits are missing

Return to the editor and select Save, then start a new export. An already downloaded file does not update when the source demo changes.
